My mother, who was my best friend in life, passed away when I was in high school and as time went on I became extremely depressed and had a hard time functioning. The first time I tried Yoga I was 19, and even though I enjoyed it I didn’t stick with it.
I was always interested in fitness and sports since I was a young kid, joining the Softball team in high school. Later in my 20s I even worked at a gym, but the gym made me anxious and exacerbated my depression. Almost 4 years ago, I found Yoga again. Yoga helped me get rid of my anxiety and depression, and really allowed me to connect with my higher self again.
Yoga transforms the practitioner into a stronger, better person. It allows pure consciousness to be in control instead of the mind controlling us. The Yoga Sutras help give us the tools to do this, and I refer back to them often because they are so incredibly helpful.
I became a yoga teacher because I want to help others evolve and transform themselves just like yoga does for me every single day.
